Civil law — advisory, drafting and pre-litigation
With over 20 years focused on civil law, we advise on the disputes and transactions that most often reach civil courts in Tamil Nadu — property and title, tenancy, partition and inheritance, contractual claims and recovery of money, easement and neighbourhood matters. Legal opinions on title and on proposed transactions are prepared in writing; demand notices and replies are drafted precisely so that a client's position is stated clearly and preserved. Where a matter is heading to court, the underlying documentation is put in order before a plaint is drawn.
Business legal advisory for small and medium enterprises
SMEs are advised on the documents that govern how their business trades — vendor and service agreements, master services agreements and statements of work, partnership deeds, LLP agreements and shareholder arrangements, commercial leases, employment and consultancy contracts, non-disclosure and non-solicitation agreements, and standard purchase orders. The commercial intent is aligned with legal drafting before signature, so obligations are enforceable and the risk of dispute is reduced. Ongoing retainer arrangements are available for regular documentation needs.
Drafting of agreements
We draft agreements that are clear, enforceable and specific to your situation — rental and lease agreements, sale agreements, partnership deeds and LLP agreements, memoranda of understanding, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements and loan agreements. Each draft is prepared with the correct recitals, defined terms, governing-law and jurisdiction clauses, and dispute-resolution provisions appropriate to the parties involved.
Power of Attorney — General, Special and NRI
We prepare and notarise General Powers of Attorney and Special Powers of Attorney for property, banking, litigation and business purposes. For Non-Resident Indians, we draft POAs suitable for execution abroad and use in India, and can advise on the Apostille or embassy attestation steps required in the country of execution so that the instrument is accepted by Indian authorities on arrival.
Wills, gift deeds and settlement deeds
We draft testamentary and lifetime disposition documents — Wills, gift deeds and family settlement deeds — with the care that succession matters require. Attestation and, where required, registration steps are explained clearly so that the document withstands scrutiny after the testator or donor's lifetime.
Property documentation review
We review property documents — sale deeds, patta and chitta extracts, encumbrance certificates, khata records and building approvals — for consistency and completeness before a purchase, sale, mortgage or family settlement. Notarised undertakings, indemnities and no-objection statements required in the course of a property transaction are drafted and attested on the spot.
Name change and gazette notification
For a legally recognised change of name — after marriage, on personal preference, or to correct records — we prepare the affidavit of name change, guide you through the newspaper publication step, and prepare the gazette notification for submission to the Directorate of Stationery and Printing, Tamil Nadu.
Marriage-related documentation
Marriage-registration affidavits under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, joint declarations by spouses, no-objection statements and single-status certificates are drafted in the form required by the Registrar of Marriages and the concerned government offices.
Affidavits for court, banking, education and employment
We draft affidavits for filing before civil and criminal courts, for banking transactions (loss of instrument, indemnity, KYC declarations), for educational institutions (gap certificate, transfer, character declarations) and for employers (background verification, joining declarations).
Company and business documentation
For companies and partnerships, we draft and notarise board resolutions, company undertakings, indemnity bonds, authorisations to signatories and vendor declarations. Retainer arrangements for regular corporate documentation are available on request.
NRI documentation
Documents executed abroad for use in India — and Indian documents required for use abroad — are prepared in the correct form and coordinated with the Apostille, MEA and consular attestation processes as needed. This includes powers of attorney, affidavits, declarations and consent letters signed by Non-Resident Indians for property, banking and family matters in India.
